Risk Score (MRS)
The big number at the top is the Mortality Risk Score — 0 to 100. It combines all sensor readings into one number. Watch this number first.
Score
Level
Meaning
Action
0–39
Normal
Everything is safe.
No action needed.
40–59
Caution
Slightly off. Not dangerous yet.
Visit house and check ventilation.
60–79
High
Becoming dangerous. Alert sent.
Go immediately. Open vents, check water.
80–100
Danger
Critical. Birds may be in distress.
Emergency. Open all vents. Call manager.
Temperature
Safe range
18°C to 32°C. Below 18°C = cold stress. Above 32°C = heat stress, birds stop eating.
Temp spread
Difference between roof and floor temp. Over 8°C means hot air is trapped — fans or windows may be blocked.
If too high
Open all windows and vents immediately. Turn on fans.
Air quality
What it measures
Ammonia from bird droppings. Invisible and odourless at low levels but deadly at high concentrations.
Safe values
Under 250 = normal. 250–400 = moderate, improve ventilation. Above 400 = elevated, take action now.
If elevated
Open vents and increase airflow immediately. Remove wet litter.
Feed level
What it shows
Distance from sensor to feed surface. Larger number = less feed in hopper.
Warning sign
If number stops changing, birds have stopped eating — early illness sign.
Water triggers
What it shows
How many times birds triggered the water gate in the last 30 seconds.
Why important
Reduced drinking is the very first sign of illness — before birds stop eating, before visible symptoms appear.
The three nodes
Central
Middle of house, mid height. Main sensor hub.
Satellite A
Left end, near roof. Usually the hottest point.
Satellite B
Right end, near floor. Where birds actually live.
Green dot
Node is online and sending data normally.
Grey dot
No data in last 90 seconds. Node may be off.

-- % RH
Middle of house · mid height. Safe range: 18–32°C.
Satellite A
--°C
Roof zone
Left end · near roof. High values = poor ventilation.
Satellite B
--°C
Floor zone
Right end · near floor. Where birds live.
Air quality
i

ADC
--
Measures ammonia and CO2 from droppings.
Air quality (MQ-135)
Measures:
Ammonia and CO2 — primary silent mortality cause.
Under 250:
Normal.
250–400:
Moderate — improve ventilation.
Above 400:
Elevated — take action now.
Air quality is fine.
Feed level
i
--
cm
Hopper distance
Larger = less feed. If unchanged, birds stopped eating.
Feed level
Larger number
= less feed remaining in hopper.
Warning:
Number stops changing = birds stopped eating.
Check temperature and inspect for illness if feed unchanged.
Water triggers
i
--
Per 30s window
Times birds drank. Drop = earliest illness sign.
Water consumption
Counts bird drinking events per 30-second window.
Sudden drop
is the earliest illness sign — before birds stop eating.
A sudden drop is a serious early warning.
Temp spread
i
--
°C
Roof vs floor
Over 8°C = hot air trapped. Check fans/vents.
Temperature spread
Difference between roof (Sat A) and floor (Sat B) temperature.
Under 5°C:
Good air circulation.
Over 8°C:
Poor ventilation — hot air trapped at roof.
Check fans and vents if spread exceeds 8°C.
